How to Get Appliance Repair in Bakersfield
Bakersfields police chief Mike Gullone says he’s received an outpouring of support after a video surfaced of him and his deputies confronting an elderly woman outside her home.
Gullone was asked about the incident Tuesday during a news conference at the Bakersfeld Police Department, where he spoke about the department’s efforts to curb home burglaries.
The video, which surfaced on Twitter on Wednesday, shows Gullones deputy confronting a woman as she walks through the door.
The video, however, has not been independently verified.
The department is asking for the public’s help in finding the person in the video.
The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries and the department is looking into whether the incident could be a case of domestic violence, according to a news release from the department.
The man in the recording, who cannot be identified, was taken into custody and faces charges of burglary and criminal trespass.
Gullyone said he and his deputy are currently investigating the incident.
“The Bakersford Police Department does not tolerate any type of abuse of power,” he said.
“We are working diligently to make sure that this does not happen again.”
In February, Gullon and his department issued a warning about the need to protect residents from home burglars.
In March, Bakersdens police said they had arrested one person for breaking into a home and another person for a similar crime.
