Bellingham appliance repairs and fixes
B.C. residents who’ve had an appliance repaired or replaced in the past year may now have to start paying for the new parts or repair, with the cost to be covered by the province.
The government says the provincial insurance fund will cover any additional costs incurred by people who need to replace their appliances, and for those who have a replacement installed.
The BC Electric Safety Agency says a majority of appliance repairs in the province are under $200, and the province estimates nearly 70 per cent of those repairs are under the $100,000 mark.
It says a new electrical device will cost up to $6,600 to repair and up to an additional $6 for the parts and labor.
The province is also asking people who’ve already had an old appliance repaired to replace it.
