Which one should you get to repair your cone appliance?
Axios has learned that some customers are using a cone appliance replacement program instead of replacing their appliances.
A spokesperson for GE Appliance Repair in St. Petersburg, Florida, told Axios that they offer two different cone appliance programs.
“One is to get a new cone appliance, the other is a replacement of the existing cone appliance,” the spokesperson said.
“We do the installation of the new appliance on a replacement schedule,” the representative said.
“The other program is to use the old cone appliance and have it replaced on a regular schedule.”
The spokesperson did not specify the cost of the replacement program, but it’s likely that it would cost between $2,500 and $5,000.
GE Appliances in the Tampa area is offering a cone-based appliance replacement plan that is $200 more expensive.
The spokesperson added that there is a “concealment policy” for those who need to replace their appliances in the event of an emergency.
“We have a policy that you can only come into our facility if you are at least 18 years old and are willing to undergo an examination to ensure that you are not a threat to yourself or others,” the rep said.
The rep said that there are no age requirements.
“If you need to be in our facility and need to remove your appliance, then we do have an employee who will be able to assist you,” the employee told Axias.
